A Bible Alphabet

A Bible Alphabet

by Alison Brown

A Bible Alphabet is a beautifully illustrated book that introduces very young readers to some of the great stories and characters from the Bible, including Noah and the ark, David and Goliath, and Daniel in the lions’ den. Here's a taste of what you'll get in this book:

A is for ark - God said there would be a terrible flood all over the earth because of man's sin. He told Noah how to build a huge ark or boat. All the people and animals who would go inside it would be safe. B is for basket - A little baby called Moses slept in a bulrush basket. It floated on the river, near the bank. His mother had hidden him there. She didn't want the wicked king to find him. C is for coat - When Joseph was a boy he wore a lovely coloured coat. No-one else had a coat quite like it. It was very special. His father gave it to him because he loved Joseph very much.

Bible Numbers

Bible Numbers

by Alison Brown

Most young children, at some stage, are fascinated with numbers. They want to count each step as they climb the stairs or find out how many peas remain on their dinner plate. Much can be taught when a child's interest is aroused and much will be remembered when the learning involves fun.

Bible Numbers, introduces a dozen Bible stories for the numbers 1-12, using large, colourful illustrations, and provides a corresponding colouring page for each. At the end of the book the stories are rearranged into an order through which the gospel message is presented. Very young children may simply enjoy the number associations while the more advanced can be taught the spiritual application. A verse relevant to each Bible truth is also suggested which may prove useful as a memory verse.

Building Thinking Skills

Building Thinking Skills

by Michael Baker

Building Thinking Skills provides highly effective verbal and non-verbal reasoning activities to improve child's vocabulary, reading, writing, maths, logic, and figural-spatial skills, as well as their visual and auditory processing. This exceptional series provides a solid foundation for academic excellence and success on any assessment test.

The activities are developmentally sequenced. Each skill (for example, classifying) is presented first in the semi-concrete figural-spatial form and then in the abstract verbal form. Children learn to analyse relationships between objects, between words, and between objects and words as they:

  • Observe, recognize, and describe characteristics.
  • Distinguish similarities and differences.
  • Identify and complete sequences, classifications, and analogies.
  • These processes help children develop superior thinking and communication skills that lead to deeper content learning in all subjects.

    Mathematical Reasoning 1

    by Linda & Doug Brumbaugh

Mathematical Reasoning™ helps children devise strategies to solve a wide variety of maths problems. This book emphasizes problem solving and computation to build the maths reasoning skills necessary for success in higher level maths and maths assessments. This book is written to the standards of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. The Beginning 1 book is a complete curriculum for children of age 3. These highly effective activities take children far beyond drill-and-practice by using step-by-step, discussion-based problem solving to develop a conceptual bridge between computation and the reasoning required for upper-level maths. Activities and units spiral slowly, allowing children to become comfortable with concepts but also challenging them to continue building their maths skills.
